We are pleased to share with you the April edition of your United Benefice Magazine. Thank you, as always, to all those who have taken the time to contribute to this edition, especially our first time contributors.

Events are slowly starting to creep back in as we begin to approach Lent and Easter, please look out for planned events in the magazine and posters.

  • St Leonard the Less Church are hosting an Easter Coffee Morning on Thursday 10th April 10.30am until 12.30pm with stalls, raffle, tombola and children's craft activities.
  • Easter egg hunt at Mellor Village Hall on Sunday 20th April, noon til 3pm
  • Forest Church at St Leonard's Church, Balderstone Sunday 27th April 4pm

Please continue to share with us all your events and activities so we can share them both in our monthly magazine and on our Facebook pages. 

We look forward to welcoming Rev'd Nathaniel in May, the Bishop of Blackburn intends to license Nathaniel in the Spring, and will be inducted as Vicar of Balderstone, Mellor and Samlesbury on Sunday 25th May 2025 at 4.00pm at St Leonard Balderstone
Church Wardens would like to know numbers of people who intend to attend this service.

There are a number of extra attachments this month, a wonderful Thank You to St Mary's School and Church from Blackburn Foodbank, information regarding the ANZAC Brass concert at Blackburn Cathedral and the Notice of appointment for Rev'd Nathaniel.

Please can all contributions to May's edition be emailed by the deadline of Friday 25th April. Thank you.

June was definitely a busy month, locally, and we are pleased to share reports from recent special occasions, including our United Benefice Confirmation Service, St Leonard’s Afternoon Tea at Balderstone,  Samlesbury’s Garden Party, the 80th Anniversary of D-Day Beacon Lightings and the Bicentenary Celebration of Mellor Brook Community Centre.   Thank you to everyone who has contributed news items and photos, particularly to those who have recently been appointed to key roles in our United Benefice. As always, we have news from so many areas of our United Benefice and we thank all our regular contributors for their articles.
