Dear Friends,

We are delighted to share with you the busy September edition of your United Benefice magazine.

Thank you to all those who have contributed to this magazine, especially our new writers: Mike Dixon, who introduces himself and shares information regarding his work related to fostering; Fiona, who reports on the recent charity cricket match; Catherine, writing about Preston Lady Farmers; and Chelsea, who describes the new Mum’s Club at Mellor Village Hall.

As we approach the centenary celebrations of the opening of Samlesbury War Memorial Hall, the trustees have kindly provided a range of articles, which have been put together into a four page feature in this edition for you.

In 2024, it will be the 200 year anniversary celebration of Mellor Brook Community Centre. If anyone has any photos, articles, artefacts, memories of the centre, any celebrations they’ve had or shows they’ve attended, children’s parties or changes they have witnessed over the years, Julie Caton would be very pleased to hear from you on 07542 909677.

Upcoming events featured in this month’s event posters supplement include:

•             Mellor Village Show at Mellor Village Hall (3rd September)

•             100 Year Anniversary Celebrations for Samlesbury War Memorial Hall (9th September)
