Dear Friends,

Please find attached your June edition of our United Benefice magazine. As so many successful events were held in May and our three social committees are each busily preparing for an event in the coming weeks, this may well be our busiest magazine edition to date!

This month, we also include a special additional supplement, beautifully prepared by Rebekah, to share her thoughts during the final weeks of her excellent year as Samlesbury’s Rose Queen.

Page fifteen of this edition gives diary dates of events from a plant sale at Mellor Village Hall on Saturday 3rd June through to the Harvest Supper at St Leonard’s, Balderstone on Thursday 5th October. As well as the articles within the magazine, please see our events posters supplement for further details of all the following:

·         Mellor Village Hall Pop-Up Cafe

·         CPR and Defibrillator Training at Mellor Brook Community Centre

·         A Best Kept Village Competition

·         Samlesbury Civic Society Community Litter Pickers

·         A Summer Fair at St Leonard’s Church, Balderstone

·         A Garden Party at St Leonard the Less, Samlesbury

·         Samlesbury Lunch Club

·         Little Angels

·         For The Love Of Pets Service on Mellor St Mary CE Primary School Field

·         St Mary’s Church Summer Barbecue

·         A Family Disco at Mellor Village Hall

·         A Charity Cricket Match (The Millstone v The Traders Arms)

·         100 Year Anniversary Celebrations for Samlesbury War Memorial Hall

·         South Ribble In Bloom 2023

We are delighted to welcome Blair’s Hatha Yoga Classes to our community advertisers. Blair leads yoga classes both at Mellor St Mary CE Primary School and other local venues. Meanwhile, very grateful thanks go to Forest Electrical and The Spread Eagle, as both businesses have renewed their adverts with us for another twelve months, with The Spread Eagle advertising their Father’s Day Special on 18th June in this month’s supplement.

Please can all contributions and updates for July’s magazine be emailed by Wednesday, 28th June. If you attend and enjoy any local events this coming month, please do consider sharing your thoughts and photos with us. Similarly, if you know of any future events, or you belong to any local clubs, classes or organisations, which others may wish to read about and join, please let us know and share what happens at your group with our local community.

Many thanks, happy reading and enjoy the sunshine,

Michael Oddie
