Graveyard Memorial Inspection Report

The PCC has a general duty for the safety of the churchyard. To fulfill this, it needs to exercise reasonable care, and so must carry out safety inspections of the memorials periodically. During the latest inspection, a number of memorials were found to be dangerously unstable and were laid down, others needed repair and were marked with hazard tape to be monitored. Maintenance of gravestones and tombs is the responsibility of the deceased's family.

The latest inspection took place in November 2022 and the PCC has agreed the inspection report should be published so that the families of the deceased whose memorials need remedial work can identify them and have them professionally re-erected or repaired.
